VMP Common Question and Answer

Does VMP support preset images for no data signal?

It is not supported in the mainline version, but can be supported through customization.

In LCT, if some cabinets display normally while others do not, exporting and importing configuration files can solve the problem. How does VMP solve this issue?

VMP has cabinet painter function that can read parameters from normal cabinets and send them to cabinets which displays abnormally to solve the issue.
For NCP files, users can save them in the VMP local pack or on the device pack, supporting import and export. Once users import the NCP file into these two storage locations, they don’t have to worry about losing it. Updating directly the correct NCP file to cabinets which displays abnormally can also solve the issue.

In VMP, when dragging a large number of cabinets, the screen will be stucking. What is the reason for this?

There is a 400ms delay for sending data; this is not stucking.

What is the difference between the step size for fine adjust and quick adjust in seam correction?

The step size for quick adjust is 32 units, and the step size for fine adjust is 8 units.

When manually adjusting the thermal compensation slider by a large margin, cabinet changes are not synchronized, and some cabinets react with a delay. Can this issue be resolved?

The adaptive thermal compensation feature is recommended to be used in automatic mode. If manual mode is necessary, the correct adjustment process is to check the status while making multiple small step size adjustments, and finally select the best adjustment value. We do not recommend to make large step size adjustments, which can cause display issues. This issue will be optimized in future VMP versions.

Why does the screen flicker when switching output bit depth from 8bit to 10bit or 12bit?

When switching output bit depth, Gamma mapping will be switched. During the Gamma mapping switching process, screen flicker may occur. This issue will be optimized in future VMP versions.

For cabinets equipped with A10s Pro, can multi-batch coefficients be saved to the module flash in VMP?

For A10s Pro with firmware version V1.5.3.0 or above, coefficients cannot be saved to the module flash.
For A10s Pro with firmware version below V1.5.3.0, coefficients can be saved to the module flash.

VNNOX Care can be used with LCT. Is there a plan for VMP to integrate with VNNOX Care?

This feature will be implemented in the custom version of VMP V1.6.0.

What are monitoring parameters and origin data?

Why is the minimum EDID 800x600?

The minimum EDID supported by graphics cards is 800x600. VMP need to adjust EDID parameters to synchronize with the graphics card. So it can not breakthough the minimum value.

Why is the custom EDID for 4K 4092 instead of 4096?

The correct EDID range is 0-4095. Currently, NovaStar supports EDID values that are multiples of 4. Taking the lower multiple of 4 results in 4092.

What updates does each VMP version iteration bring?

Version Compatibility:
Each mainline version of VMP corresponds to a specific version of device firmware. Both must be used together for proper device recognition and functionality.
New Device Support:
When new devices are added to the COEX series, the latest VMP version will include support for them. For example, V1.4.0 added support for the MX2000/6000 Pro devices.
Functional Differences:
Different VMP versions have distinct functional features. For instance, V1.5.0 introduced an updated monitor interface for better visualization, support for light sensor, the 40 port mode for MX40 Pro, schedule functions, and significantly improved system transmission speeds.

What is the difference in interaction between VMP’s seam brightness correction and multi-batch adjustment compared to LCT?

This feature has been iterated. VMP’s seam correction can display the adjusted effect in real-time. The mouse cursor is shown in real-time on the LED screen, and combined with the mouse wheel for adjustment, it enables fine or quick adjust. Multi-batch adjustment allows quick selection of corresponding cabinets or modules, with a more visualized interface and better interaction, significantly improving correction efficiency.

Can VMP rotate cabinets or modules?

VMP’s rotation function is based on cabinets. It can rotate all cabinets of the entire screen or select specific cabinets for rotation, which is particularly suitable for some irregular LED screens, such as those used in concerts or exhibitions.
This function has requirements for the receiving card firmware version, some late versions of the firmware support this function.

After changing the phase offset and comparing origin data, the default format of the diagnosis report may require manually adjusting the table width. Can this issue be resolved?

The diagnosis report table format is csv. The table width is fixed and does not adjust automatically. This issue will be resolved in future VMP versions, where reports will be generated in xlsx format with automatic column width adjustment.

After creating multiple schedules for brightness, presets, and diagnosis, there is a delay when entering the schedule interface from other interfaces. What is the reason?

The schedule module has performance issues when there are many schedules. Testing shows that with better computer performance, entering the schedule interface may delay when more than 20 schedules, and delay about 1 second when more than 100 schedules. On computers with poorer performance, the delay can be up to about 3 seconds. The reason is the rendering of the month viewer.

When the brightness limitation is set to 0, why does the brightness adjustment cannot be adjusted in VMP, but the brightness adjustment still can be adjusted on the LCD panel of device?

Because the LCD panel of device cannot determine the current brightness limitation information, even if a brightness limitation has been set, the LCD front panel may still allow brightness adjustment, but it will not take effect. This issue will be optimized in future VMP versions.

How to check if a cabinet has calibration coefficients?

To check for brightness or brightness&chroma calibration coefficients: In the calibration coefficient management interface, use the “read” function to read the coefficients and display them on the screen. And see it to check if it has effect. If there is, it proves coefficients exist.
To check for full grayscale calibration coefficients: If its switch can be used, it proves coefficients exist. If the switch cannot be used or there is no full grayscale calibration switch, it means there are no calibration coefficients.

Is there any way to read-back and save NCP file from a known good cabinet?

If you have the original NCP file and it has been imported into the cabinet library, it can be exported from VMP software. Furthermore, NCP files can be synchronized between controllers and between controllers and communication computers.
Because the NCP file is a set of files and is linked to VMP software parameter adjustments, any changes to VMP parameters will affect the NCP file. The NCP is merely a status value, not a specific file. The original NCP file records the factory state, hence the existence of a “file”.
